Iced Matcha Recipe: A Refined Drink to Make at Home

Iced matcha is an elegant and simple drink to prepare, perfect for enjoying the rich and delicate aromas of green tea. Here is a detailed recipe for making the perfect iced matcha, step by step.

Ingredients and Materials Needed:

  • 4 g of ceremonial matcha (Kyoyu offers ideal options with its KISAKUNA , TANOSH I and SHINSETSU ranges).
  • 30 ml of hot water (at 85°C).
  • 130 ml of cold water.
  • Ice cubes.
  • Materials: a bowl (Chawan), a bamboo whisk (Chasen), a fine strainer for sieving, a spoon and a precision scale if possible.

Steps to Make Iced Matcha:

  1. Pour hot water into the bowl (Chawan in Japanese).
This preheats the bowl for better preparation.
  2. Soak your bamboo whisk (Chasen in Japanese) for a few seconds to relax it.
This protects the whisk fibers for optimal use.
  3. Empty the bowl, then wipe it with a clean cloth.
A dry bowl ensures better integration of the matcha.
  4. Sift 4g of matcha into the bowl.
This eliminates lumps and ensures a smooth texture. Adjust the amount for a more or less intense flavor.
  5. Carefully add 30 ml of hot water at 85°C.
Be careful not to exceed this temperature to preserve the subtle aromas.
  6. Whisk for 5 seconds to remove lumps.
Mix gently to homogenize the matcha.
  7. Whisk vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds, forming a “W” shape.
This movement creates a light and creamy foam, characteristic of a good matcha.
  8. Add 130 ml of cold water and mix everything together.
This step provides the desired freshness.
  9. Pour your mixture into a glass filled with ice cubes.
Serve immediately and enjoy your iced matcha.

Experiment with Your Iced Matcha:

For an original and sophisticated touch, try adding a pinch of grated tonka bean . Its aromas reminiscent of vanilla and almond blend perfectly with the herbal notes of matcha, offering a refined and unique drink.

Why Choose Iced Matcha?
